Southward
from Durban a few of the major resorts are Amanzimtoti, with beautiful
beaches, rock pools, walkways and all facilities including excellent restaurants;
Kingsburgh, which encompasses a number of small resorts all ideal for swimming,
surfing, angling, bathing and boating; Umkomaas, on the banks of the Umkomaas
river, offers tennis and bowls facilities as well as a large tidal pool
and good angling. A short drive further South takes you to Scottburgh,
a popular holiday resort with golden beaches, tidal pools, fountains and
playgrounds for children.

About
120 kilometres South of Durban is the town of Port Shepstone which offers
boating on the river, bowling greens, tennis courts, an 18 hole golf course,
surfing, fishing and swimming. The Oribi Gorge Nature Reserve, covering
some 1 783 hectares, has numerous antelope, Oribi, smaller mammals, birds
and reptiles as well as leopard and Baboon. Southward from Port Shepstone
to Uvongo the resorts offer safe bathing, tidal pools, golf and sports
facilities. Margate is a very popular holiday resort with entertainment,
restaurants, an amusement park, a fishing pier and attractive safe beaches.
Ramsgate to the south offers protected bathing and secluded beaches. |

The
town of Southbroom with wide sandy beaches has a clear lagoon that makes
watersport a pleasure. Stretches of golden beaches take one part of Marina
Beach to the magnificent San Lameer resort. Port Edward the most Southerly
resort is surrounded by subtropical forests and wide beaches.
